A robbery has been done on a beach house.
A window was smashed to gain access. There were several fingerprints on the glass, but most probably belonged to the people living in the house.
Eliminate their fingerprints and try to match a print to one or more of the suspects that the police have.
Which suspect number has matching prints on the window?
After being identified from fingerprints, the suspect admitted looking in the beach house window out of curiosity, but denied robbing it.
There was a clock smashed in the house which put the robbery time at 11:37 am. The suspect said he was there more like 10 am. Tracks found on the beach house showed various prints. The suspect admitted the shoe tracks were his.
After questioning people in the area, police found:
A man who said he drove a 4-wheel drive vehicle along the beach at about lunchtime, 12:00 pm.
A girl who rode her trail bike along the beach at about 11 am.
That the woman who reported the robbery was walking barefoot and rang on a cellphone at 11:45 am.
Was the suspect in the area at the right time? Explain your answer.
