Method
Method
Place the heatproofmat underneath the burner.
Attach the gas hose to the gas tap. Don't force the hose onto the tap too far.
Light the Bunsen burner in the following way:
Close the air hole
Light the match
Switch on the gas
Hold the match close to the top of the burner, but not over the top of it.
Remove the match from the burner when it is lit
Hold the tile in the yellow flame (using the tongs). Record your onservations.
Now place the gauze mat in the flame at points A, B, C and D using tongs as shown below. Observe and record any differences you noticed.
Now turn the collar until you have a blue flame and repeat steps 4 and 5. Observe carefully.
